Just a quick reflection on a few lines from today’s first reading. This was a one-take, unscripted, no editing thing…part of my attempts to stop letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Whatever.

I was off last week, but – fear not! – I have returned. And to make it up to you, here’s a long (16 minutes or so) ramble on Bl. Miguel Pro, whom the Church celebrates today.

You ever have a thought i your head that you can’t seem to properly express in words? That’s how I feel today. Not because I have anything necessarily profound to say, just because it’s Monday and all the synapses aren’t firing. Nevertheless, I managed to ramble for a few minutes about today’s feast. And, at the very least, there’s a couple photos of the Lateran Basilica here for your enjoyment, too.

I wish I had recorded myself at the 8:30 Mass this morning, because that was the best version of this homily. Instead, you get the 11:30 recording I made in my office…

I was going to record a reflection for All Souls’ Day, but then I realized that was double work…I had one of the parish Masses last night, which, it turns out, was in fact livestreamed. So here’s the entire Mass; the Gospel starts at the 22 minute mark; the homily concludes at the 31 minute mark.

Just an audio reflection tonight…still working on my video production skills. Also having an issue with YouTube; it keeps defaulting me to YouTube Vietnam, and I have to manually change my location back to the US. I’ve had this problem before – well, last time it had me in Czechia – but I can’t seem to fix it. But that is for another day. Here’s a (kinda long) reflection on All Saints Day. Enjoy!

What…what have I done?

Just a quick few thoughts about the martyrs we celebrate today.

And pray for me; I have a 4 hour zoom meeting this afternoon. Some might call that it’s own form of martyrdom…

I have no idea what I did differently this time, but I think it worked. Still, this has been a rather frustrating experience. Some changes to our format may come as a result. We’ll see.

WordPress has drastically changed the back-end editor during my hiatus. Classic case of “This works fine, we better fix it.” It’s rather irritating, because I don’t have the time nor the inclination to learn this seemingly more complicated interface in great depth. Anyway…I’m going to try this again. If this doesn’t work, I might have to go back into hiatus for a few days until I can figure out a better solution.

UPDATE: Not gonna work. Seems that WordPress no longer supports audio files of this type. And yet all of my previous uploads seem to work, and they’re all the exact same file format. Looks like I have a project for the afternoon.
